Self-motivated. Much of the work and decision making is left up to each inspector. An Inspector needs to be able to keep themselves focused to do this job well.

Excellent Customer Service. Being a state inspector requires you to deal with multiple types of people in a variety of situations daily. It is important to have the ability to create a pleasant relationship with customers even if the subject matter is difficult.

Technically Savvy. Technology has become important in how the State Inspector conducts inspections. A solid understanding of computers and other electronic devices is important to stay “up to speed” with changes in the many industries our program oversees.

“The encouragement of working together and developing new techniques gave me a valuable feeling to the department even though I am still fairly new to the position. The fact that everyone has a voice in the department no matter their age or seniority took a lot of stress away from being new to the position.”  – Elijah, State Inspector since Oct 2018.
